Are you planning to go to Ibiza this summer? A trip to Ibiza, to see some of the world’s best-known DJs perform in the most prominent and legendary clubs, is a pilgrimage for every EDM fan, and the Space Ibiza Opening Fiesta is considered the kickoff event for a summer of synths, bass, and sun.

At the end of last week, the initial lineup for Space Ibiza Opening Fiesta was announced, and with Carl Cox, 2ManyDJs, Dubfire, Sasha, Roger Sanchez, and Steve Lawler as main acts, the 2012 party, scheduled for May 27, is expected to have an old-school house vibe. About the 2012 event, Cox told the press: “Again, I return to help kick the Ibiza season off and I seriously can’t wait. The Space Opening Fiesta always marks the start of the summer season for me and it truly is one of the best parties I have the honor to play at.”

The lineup, as of now, includes:

After this opening event, Cox is doing his summer residency at Space Ibiza. Called The Revolutionary Recruits, Cox’s 2012 residency is expected to be a new beginning for this legendary Detroit techno DJ. Lynn Cosgrave, Cox’s manager and director of Safehouse Management, said in a statement: “The concept of Recruits is to bring new people into the club, new DJs and new clubbers so we can develop the music scene and give people a break.”

With a mix of up-and-coming and established artists, The Revolutionary Recruits runs from July 3 to September 18 and, for mainstream performers, features Heidi, Ben Sims, Just Be (AKA Bushwacka!), Guy J, Pan-Pot, Antz, Pleasurekraft, DJ Felipe (AKA Philipp Straub), and Deetron.

To give new artists a leg up, Safehouse is holding two contests for the summer season. For the first, four DJs will be selected from a pool of mixtape submissions; two will perform at Space Ibiza, and two others at Sands. All four will additionally attend the SAE Institute for DJing instruction. The second is open to producers interested in creating a theme for The Revolutionary Recruits. The winner’s submission will be used for the party’s promotional materials and will be released properly once the season finishes.
